Name: | Miss Mary Bennet |
---|---|
Birthdate: | Nov 8 |
Location: | United Kingdom |
If Mr. and Mrs. Bennet of Longbourn can be said to be rich in any respect, it’s that they have a wealth of daughters. Jane, the eldest, the most beautiful girl in the neighborhood. Lizzie who is clever and confident and father’s favorite. Lydia and Kitty who are flirtatious and sociable and very much their mother’s daughters. And, in the middle, there is Mary.
Amongst such sisters, how is a girl to ever stand out?
Mary has managed to find her individual niche in the Bennet family circle: A serious-minded, rather reclusive, accomplished (well, she tries hard, at any rate) practical and modest pillar of virtue. Unfortunately, over the years Mary has become so good at playing her family role that any good qualities she possesses have become overshadowed by the fact that she’s something of a humorless, socially-awkward prig.
She’s probably the last person in the world who should find a door to the End of the Universe.
Which is probably why the door to the End of the Universe finds her.
Mary Bennet is a few weeks shy of her 18th birthday at the beginning of her canon (which for the purposes of this character will be autumn of 1797). She ranks as the plainest of the Bennet sisters, being of middling height, brown haired and brown eyed. Not wishing to be viewed as frivolous or vain, she has developed a positive talent for dressing dowdily. She likes to present the appearance of having a wise and serious mind, but in truth, she's still some time away from growing into her own good sense.
Prim and proper even by the standards of her era, her favorite pastime is books, preferably those that improve the mind and morals. She is also fond of music, though her execution of it is only moderately successful. She is not, it must be admitted, the most pleasant person to be around. Some of this can be chalked up to her personality, while part is also overcompensation for shyness and insecurity.
Mary Bennet is from the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. She is drawn largely from the 2005 film version, and is portrayed by Talulah Riley, with some help from Felicity Jones. She appears here solely for the purpose of role playing in
